Frequently Asked Questions – FAQs
Q. What sort of people go speed dating?
A. Most speed daters are professionals who want to meet more people. They’re normal people who just aren’t meeting people through their work or immediate circle of friends.Q. Is 3 minutes long enough?
A. It is said that humans make their mind up about someone they meet in 7 seconds! Three minutes can be an eternity with someone you do not ‘connect’ with! However, it is long enough to know whether you would like to invest a few hours getting to know each other on a further date.Q. How old are people on the events?
A. Speed daters ages range from middle 20s, 30s and 40s so most of the events are arranged in these age groups. However, we do run some events incorporating older age groups.Q. Do I have to be in the age limit to attend?
A. The age range is a guideline only, if you are slightly under or above the age limit you are still welcome to attend. However, if you are, or appear to be, significantly outside of the age range then you are unlikely to get a match. Not many 25 year old women want to date 50 year old men. The other way round, perhaps!Q. How many people will I meet?
A. Depending on the venue, we aim to have up to 20 men and 20 women at each event, though this may vary. Any more than that ones memory fails.Q. What should I wear?
A. Smart casual is best, something you feel comfortable and confident in – think what you would wear to go on a mid-week date.Q. Are the events held in private?
A. Yes, the events take place in rooms which have been specifically hired for the event, the rooms are not open to other people.Q. Can I come alone?
A. Yes, most speed daters do come alone. Once you have registered you can have a drink at the bar and mix with other participants.Q. Can I bring a friend?
A. The more the merrier but they will need to have registered and paid for the event.Q. When will I know if I have a match?
A. We guarantee you will be contacted within 48 hours of the event to inform you of your matches, we try to do it within 24. The results can additionally be viewed on line.Q. If I have a match, what details will I be given of the other person, what details of mine will be given?
A. At least you will be supplied with each other’s e-mail address. If people agree, phone numbers will also be given. Phone numbers released make it easier and quicker to meet again, especially mobile phone numbers.Q. Do I have to stay and socialise after the event?
A. No, generally 50% leave straight away and wait for their results to come through. Others do stay and talk further.Q. How many events can I attend?
A. There are no restrictions. The more events you attend the more people you will meet as there are approximately 80% of new speed daters at each event.Q. If someone at the event asks for my phone number, should I give it to them?
A. Speed Dating is designed to prevent embarrassment to all parties. We ask participants to refrain from asking such questions when meeting during the speed dating sessions.Q. A lot of the women’s tickets are sold out. Can you squeeze a couple more in?
A. We have to manage numbers carefully to ensure equal numbers of men and women at our events. However we are often able to take additional bookings that do not effect the balance of numbers – eg two men and two women. Please phone to check.Q. How do I book?
A. Once each event is confirmed the best way is to book through our secure server and pay by debit/credit card. If you prefer you can call our booking line 0845 345 1558 and pay by card.Q. Can I purchase a gift voucher for a friend?
A. Yes, all you need to do is call us and make a booking over the phone. We will then post out the voucher to your friend, which when they recieve will have to let us know which event they would like to attend. This can be done by posting the completed voucher.
